I picked this up on a whim. Other reviews were favorable so I figured it couldn't be too terrible. Now I've only had it for one night but here are my impressions thus far. It feels better constructed than I expected. The sound quality is far better than I thought it would be. The remote doesn't look too "cheap" either. Where I'm really impressed though is with the picture quality.

Bought this to wall mount on the wall of my 15 x 12 home gym. Got this, the swivel wall mount, and the materials to build a wall-mounted shelf below it all for under 250. Most of these smaller LCD TVs are made by similar companies. This one is actually made by either Samsung or LG. It changes between models and build date. Both quality manufacturers though.

After reading all of the positive reviews on this HDTV, I decided to order it. Once I connected it to my HD cable box with the HDMI cable, I thought for sure the picture would be crystal clear. Well, I was wrong. Even in HD the picture is grainy and objects appear to have that heat shadow coming off of them. In analog, the picture is much worse. I have played with the settings and it does not seem to make a difference. I will say that the sound is pretty good.

All things considered, I'm happy to have purchased this TV so far. I was taking a chance on the AOC brand (had never heard of it before), but it seems to be a good quality product overall. The only unknown so far is the unit's longevity. The TV comes with a one-year warranty, but I hope to be watching this TV for several years longer than this.

Physical set up is straightforward and easy. You don't need tools to tighten a single screw holding the base. No height adjustment; tilt can be adjusted by bending the steel plate connecting the monitor to the base. No problem for most users, but if you like to adjust your monitor position a lot, don't choose this model.

Needed to make some adjustments for color balance and contrast, and I've been enjoying it since.

Probably would have gone for something else though, if this had not been on sale.

Also, I was a little disappointed by the resolution limit (but not a deal breaker for me).

The AOC 2236Vw Widescreen LCD Monitor is a great monitor. I've had it for about two weeks now and have had no problems. Setting it up was pretty easy - you can choose to either use VGA or DVI. You can also connect the monitor via USB cable enabling you to use the USB port on the back of the monitor for devices such as your thumb drive, etc.
